Several websites tell injured riders that New Jersey no fault covers their treatment regardless of fault. For a motorcyclist that is not correct, and believing it costs people money.

Personal Injury Protection does not apply to you

New Jersey's no fault medical benefits attach to automobiles. A motorcycle is not one for that purpose, so unless you purchased optional medical payments coverage on the motorcycle policy in advance, no auto insurer automatically funds your treatment. Most injured riders end up billing health insurance, which then asserts a lien against any recovery.

But no injury threshold applies either

The limitation on lawsuit that restricts many drivers comes bundled with the no fault system.
